crack

WHAT happens WHEN YOU USE cannabis?

If you use Cannabis it can make you:

The effects of smoking weed depend on loads of different things & can be different each time you use.

Cannabis and Skunk come in different strengths. If you smoke a type of cannabis that is stronger than you are used to it can have a totally different effect than you expected

SO WHATS IT LIKE?

A cannabis cigarette is known as a spliff or joint. These are hand rolled cigarettes with cannabis and usually tobacco in them.
Remember tobacco kills over 100,000 people each year and is a physically addictive drug. Some people believe tobacco is the biggest danger of smoking a spliff or joint but cannabis comes with risks as well.

If you get a drug conviction it can stop you from travelling to other countries, from getting certain types of jobs, get you thrown out of school/college and not make you popular at home!

There have been reports in the press that cannabis can trigger underlying mental health problems. This would mean that some people who use cannabis are increasing their chance of having a mental health problem. Some people might smoke (or use other drugs) because they don't feel good anyway. The trouble is that they run the risk of making a bad situation even worse. Perhaps you have heard people say that there are no risks with cannabis. It is worth remembering that NO drug is risk free and that definitely includes cannabis.

WHAT DOES it LOOK LIKE ?

crack is highly addictive

THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT !!!

Cannabis is now a Class B drug again.

There are also new plans to bring in a '3 strike system' (for England and Wales) that the Police will use.  It goes something like this:

1st Time Offender -

Warning will be given.

2nd Time Offender -

An £80 on the spot fine will be given

3rd Time Offender -

Person would be arrested, face an unlimited fine and up to 5 years in prison

Anyone found with cannabis will continue to be reported to the Procurator Fiscal of the Public Prosecution Service where a decision to prosecute or issue a caution will be made.
In reality drug charities have told Newsbeat that police may still decide to issue an informal warning depending on the severity of the offence.
